Pupils and staff from Holy Trinity College were recently recognised at a civic reception held by Cookstown District Council. Mr McKeever was in attendance to collect an award, which was presented to the school as a result of the ‘Irish News’ School Award last year. Our first ever Ulster College’s All Star Jason Rocks was also recognised by the council, as was our ladies All Star Winner, Michaela McGuigan. Well done to all involved.
Goals from Conan McLernon (penalty), Paddy Coney and Caolan Mallaghan helped Holy Trinity to a convincing 3-12 to 0-6 win over St Louis Kilkeel on Monday afternoon. The sides exchanged points in the opening ten minutes before McLernon fired home a penalty to put the Cookstown boys 1-2 to 0-2 ahead on fourteen minutes. Holy Trinity took control of the contest for the remainder of the half, and points from Conor McLoughlin, Caolan Mallaghan and Conan McLernon left them 1-8 to 0-3 ahead at the break. The Paddy Coney goal eight minutes after the break, finished the contest as Holy Trinity pushed on to record their second win in the group stage. Next up is St Columb’ s College Derry at the end of the week.
Tuesday saw great success for our Loch an Iuir and MacLarnon cup squads when they both returned to Ulster Colleges Football after the half term break. First up was the third year Loch an Iuir squad who had a brilliant 9-9 to 3-6 victory over St Patrick’s Keady. There were excellent performances from Kyran Robinson and Tarlach Quinn in defence and Dylan Bloomer in the forward line. Next up for the boys is a top of the table decider against St Paul’s Bessbrook on Thursday.
McLarnon Campaign up and running!
Holy Trinity got their McLarnon Cup campaign up and running with a hard fought victory over Red High, Downpatrick. Scores from Conan McLernon and Michael O’Neill put them ahead at the break and a goal from Aidan Woods mid way through the second half left them eight points ahead. A late rally from Red High saw them hit two goals in the final minutes, but Holy Trinity held on to secure their first win of the campaign.
