Holy Trinity marched on to the Semi Final of the Oisin McGrath Shield with a hard fought win against an impressive Red High Downpatrick on Wednesday. The match was played in a gale force wind in Lurgan and it was HTC who would play with the strong wind in the first half. Holy Trinity made this advantage count with two early goals from Canice Cullen. Also on song for HTC was Aaron Quinn up front who won every ball that came his direction. Red High battled the strong wind and did register a goal after 10 minutes. This made it 2-0 to 1-1. Chormaic Gallagher made a great save for HTC which would have put Red High in the lead had they scored. For the rest of the first half Holy Trinity dominated with more goals from Canice Cullen, Aaron Quinn and Callum McCreesh. The half time score was 8-2 to 1-4 to HTC. Although this score looked very one sided, Red High were to play with the strong wind the second half. Ten minutes into the second half Red High had registered 1-7 from play to leave the game in the balance. Despite the Red High pressure Holy Trinity did got another two crucial goals, in the second half, which made all the difference. HTC stayed defensively strong with some great work from Conor Devlin and James Robinson. The Final score finished 10-5 to 4-12. Next up is the semi final v Our Ladys, Knock to be played next week.
