HTC into Oisin McGrath Final!
Well done to our Year 10 (Loch an Iuir) and Year 8 (Oisin McGrath) squads who both defeated St Louis Ballymena, in a double header at Loup on Tuesday. The Year 8 Oisin McGrath squad are back in the Oisin McGrath Shield Final after a brilliant 3-5 to 2-3 victory over the Antrim men. The boys will be hoping to secure back to back titles when they face a repeat of last year’s final against St Patrick’s College, Armagh. Shea Tracey was top marksman for the first year squad, finishing with 1-3, and goals from Jack Martin and Rian Smith as well as points from Karol McGuigan set the HTC boys on the path to the final. There were strong performances in defence, with Luke Cullen, Conan Devlin and Keegan Hampsey outstanding on the day. The final against St Pats, Armagh will take place next week.
Loch an Iuir boys march on!
Holy Trinity Loch an Iuir (Year 10) squad also faced St Louis Ballymena and came away with a 7-9 to 3-6 victory to reach the Semi Final. After a poor start Holy Trinity began to settle into the game. First half goals from Caolan Mulgrew and Shea Moore really helped Holy Trinity make the most of a strong first half wind. Ulcan Mc Crory and Niall Connolly were great in defence and had some great attacks forward. The team went in at half time nine points up but had to play against a strong breeze for the second half. The second half began with two St Louis goals and the pressure was building. Sean Gallagher and Shea Quinn scored excellent points against the wind to increase the margin in favour of HTC. A great finish from Shea Loughran saw the boys hold on for a hard earned victory. The Loch an Iuir squad will now meet Patrician Carrickmacross in the semi- final in two weeks’ time.
